Mission

We believe that it is important that this unique and hitherto neglected example of Welsh heritage should be preserved for the community and for future generations to enjoy.  The support of the Friends is crucial to this aim, and contributions, which are made possible by the efforts of the Friends of Belan, are directed by the FOBA Committee to specific projects. These are chosen for the purpose of restoring and enhancing the historic provenance of the Fort.

The Association 

The Friends of Belan Association (FOBA) was formed in February 2005 in order to provide practical support for the preservation, restoration and renovation of the historical features of the buildings, grounds and dock which make Fort Belan unique.

Aims

The Constitution lists the following aims:

1. To support and further financially and otherwise the restoration and preservation of Belan in accordance with its status as listed buildings and/or structures with regard to appropriate environmental practice and conservation law and practice.

2. To further and carry out research into the history and archaeology of Belan.

3. To give financial and other assistance for the provision in Belan of facilities for individuals and societies engaged in leisure pursuits and activities connected with the furtherance of these objects’.

The Friends work to support these aims and since the Association’s inauguration have concentrated on facilitating repairs and restoration work to the Fort’s  historical artefacts.

Mae cefnogaeth y Cyfeillion yn hanfodol i'r nod hwn ac mae'r cyfraniadau, sy'n bosibl gan ymdrechion Cyfeillion y Belan, yn cael eu cyfeirio gan Bwyllgor y Cyfeillion FOBA at brosiectau penodol. Dewisir y rhain at ddibenion adfer a gwella tarddiad hanesyddol y Gaer.

Ffurfiwyd Cymdeithas Cyfeillion y Belan (FOBA) ym mis Chwefror 2005 er mwyn darparu cefnogaeth ymarferol ar gyfer cadw, adfer ac adnewyddu nodweddion hanesyddol yr adeiladau, y tiroedd a'r doc sy'n gwneud Caer y Belan yn unigryw.
